THE HAND HEWN, WHITE OAK TIMBER TRUSSES ARRIVED A COUPLE DAYS AGO, AND AFTER SOME MINOR ASSEMBLY, WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO SEE THEM LIFTED INTO PLACE. THE TIMBER TRUSSES ON THIS PROJECT ARE NOT JUST DECORATION, BUT ARE STRUCTURAL MEMBERS THAT SPAN THE WIDTH OF THE GREAT ROOM AND SUPPORT THE RIDGE BEAM OVER THE 46′-0″ LENGTH OF THE ROOM. BEING SOLID WHITE OAK, THEY WERE EXTREMELY HEAVY SO A LARGE CRANE WAS CALLED IN TO DO THE HEAVY LIFTING. WE CAN’T WAIT TO EXPERIENCE THIS SPACE.
THE TRUSSES ARE CAREFULLY LOWERED ONTO STEEL BEARING PLATES THAT WERE POURED INTO THE CONCRETE WALLS.
