Draper Lake and The Retreat Architect

Sep 3, 2019 | 30A Architecture

While everyone is familiar with the Traditional Neighborhood Developments of Seaside, Rosemary, WaterColor, WaterSound, and Alys Beach, there are other absolutely beautiful, lesser-known developments along Highway 30A that offer sweeping gulf views. Some are perfectly nestled against the Coastal Dune Lakes that define 30-A as well. Neighborhoods such as The Retreat and Draper Lake offer wonderful amenities set in a natural landscape. Both neighborhoods are located between Blue Mountain Beach and Gulf Place. Draper Lake, named for the coastal dune lake that it borders, was created in Partnership with DPZ. DPZ is the same group that developed Rosemary Beach. The community is very sensitive to the preservation of the coastal dune lake environment and is styled on the building traditions of the Adirondack Great Camps. The Retreat boasts 3000 feet of private beach. It is nestled between the white sands and emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico and a rare coastal dune lake. The luxury homes in The Retreat are not tied to a particular style or period in history but still remain respectful to the climate, geography, and time. The architectural style has influences from the Caribbean, Low country, and colonial styles.
